Digital Nomad Diaries: Paris Day 4
The day I finally met my people in person.
If you've been following along, you know I've spent the first few days of this Paris trip doing the classic tourist things at my own pace. Day 4 was something completely different.
This is the whole reason I came to Paris.
The backstory: Creator Academy
Last year I enrolled in a content creation program run by Amanda Rollins of @americanfille, Paris's #1 girl and one of the most genuinely knowledgeable people in the travel content creator space.
Over the course of the program, a group of us from all over the world connected, learned together, and built each other up online. Today was the day we all finally met in person.
US, Spain, Croatia, Singapore, Canada. All in one room. In Paris. It was a lot.
The afternoon: reunion, presentation, and wandering Le Marais
The afternoon kicked off with a presentation from Amanda and her team, which was a great refresher on content creation strategy that reminded me why I invested in the program in the first place. The kind of thing that sounds like a recap but actually lands differently when you're sitting in a room full of people who have been in the trenches with you.
After that, we had a few free hours to wander, which we spent along the Seine and through Le Marais. I made a quick detour to say hello to Notre Dame, which after its years of restoration is looking genuinely spectacular.
But honestly, the best part of the afternoon was just being physically present with people I'd only ever known through a screen. There's something that happens when you finally meet your online community in person that no amount of group chats can replicate.
Dinner at Atica: the most memorable meal of the trip
If you ever find yourself in Paris and want a truly unforgettable dinner experience, Atica in the Latin Quarter needs to go on your list immediately.
They describe it as an immersive culinary experience, and they are not exaggerating. The theme changes regularly, but ours was built around Quebec, Canada, with courses that told a story from start to finish. And surrounding the entire dining room are 360 degree screens that put you right in the middle of the landscape of forests, rivers, snow. You're eating in Paris but you feel like you're actually there. This concept was unlike anything I've experienced at a restaurant.
Practical info: Atica is a ticketed experience so book well in advance. It's not a spontaneous dinner spot.
What happened after (3am is no longer my time)
The night took a turn when a last-minute group decision landed us at a club on the Seine with Amanda and whoever was still standing. I left my voice there. I also left any remaining energy I had.
3am is no longer a reasonable time for me to be out. I'm putting that in writing so someone can hold me accountable next time.
The bigger takeaway
I talk a lot about solo travel and digital nomad life, and a big part of that story is the community you build along the way. Investing in the Creator Academy last year wasn't only learning the craft and business of content creation. It was also about finding a group of people who are building something similar and doing it alongside them.
If you're an aspiring creator, along with investing in the tools and education that’s right for you, my big advice is to find your people who will inspire, support, and motivate you through the journey.
