Let me paint you a picture of my Sunday weekend. Cruising with dolphins* in the morning. A turquoise beach in the afternoon. Releasing baby sea turtles into the ocean at sunset. And ten minutes from home to be back at my desk the next morning.
That's digital nomad life when it's working exactly the way I want it to.
Settling Into Everyday Life
The adventures are real, but the last few weeks in Puerto Escondido, Mexico have been less about ticking things off a list and more about something I love even more: actually living here. That's one of the things about this lifestyle that I don't think gets talked about enough. The moment a place stops feeling like a destination and starts feeling like home.
I had that here. A stunning villa to come back to at the end of the day, a neighborhood that felt like home, and a rhythm that was mine.
Finding My Local Spots
Every place I stay, I know I've hit my stride when I have my spots. Puerto Escondido delivered.
My workout studio has been kicking my ass four times a week without apology, and I have loved every second of it. My favorite poke place became a recurring habit. And my fish taco spot, where I am now on a first-name basis with the people there, became something close to sacred. There is nothing better than being a regular somewhere when you're thousands of miles from home.
The Amplitude Family
Then there are my housemates at Amplitude Coliving, who we’ve decided are a happily co-dependent family we collectively decided to become. Boat excursions, sunset beach hangs, fifteen-person dinners (with the dreaded headache of splitting of the bill every night), and nights dancing until 3am in Zicatela. We did it all, and we did it together.
Some of my favorite people in life are people I've met while traveling. This crew is already in that category, and we're deep in the planning stages of reunion meetups before we've even properly said goodbye.
